Letter From Joseph Huston
July 19, 2005 Dear Ellen Gaske,
About one week before father's day I sat down and watched my daughter read "When Winter Comes". It is a "WATCH ME READ" book. I have never received a better gift in all my life. I am not a very emotional person but Icould not stop my tears of joy while watching her demonstration.
Margaret's reading problems have been a very trying time for my wife, myself and most of all Margaret. My wife and I were so puzzled by our child who had no problems with math but could not read or write. Speaking for myself, fearing that I was raising a daughter who would be unable to read all but the simplest of words left me full of dread and guilt.
I know progress like this doesn't come without a lot of dedicated hard work by many committed and talented people. I want to thank Ms. Kim Hughley, Ms. Deborah Anderson, Ms. Helena Zozulak and Mr. G. I am sure that there are many others who have also contributed.
At our last parent teacher conference, Ms. Hughley told us that Margaret was so close to being able to break out and make some real progress. At the time, I admit I was a bit skeptical. Obviously, Kim Hughley can see around the corners and has great insight.
While Margaret has a ways to go before she will be able to catch up to her peers I can see that she has a strong set of gifted guides. Currently, we are working on the sixth Harry Potter book.
Thank you,
Joseph C. Huston Jr.
