Letter From Judith Friedman

  January 3, 2006

Mr. Pugh - As the semester begins I thought I would drop you a line to let you know what a success last semester was for Jamie and how grateful we are for your support, Ms. D's as well as everyone at High Road who has helped Jamie. Last night Jamie was telling me how much he loved school, how much he learned and everything that he is looking forward to doing in the coming months. This is a huge change for Jamie! He feels successful and he is committed to working hard for the rest of the school year.

Over the holidays we noticed several important changes in Jamie that, in large measure, are a result of your work and commitment to Jamie's education. First and foremost, Jamie's ego is getting stronger. He took social risks he was seldom willing to try in the past. His conversational skills are improving and he is using good methods of including himself in conversations. Even his skiing is better. He is more aggressive (in a good way) and he was willing to try runs and slopes that he feared previously. No longer is falling a sign of failure. It is now "just part of learning". Jamie is reading!! Menus, signs, everything. It is a slow process but he's doing it. His reading has improved dramatically since coming to High Road. Finally, Jamie is maturing. He is very eager to meet your standards and to behave like an appropriate teenager.

Please be aware that my husband and I are always available to support you and High Road in any way that we can. We are grateful for the commitment that everyone at High Road shows towards our son. We look forward to a successful second semester and wish you and everyone at High Road the best. Regards, Judith Friedman

P.S. Please pass our email, good wishes and thanks along to Mrs. Gaske and everyone at High Road who has had a hand in Jamie's success.
